Victoria Lindsay Teen Gang Beating Victim 2nd Video Released May 2008

The Polk County, Florida, Sheriff’s office released a second video in the teen gang beating of the Mulberry High School cheerleader, Victoria Lindsay. We have posted a copy of the beating here.

Lindsay, who was 16 at the time of the beating March 30th, suffered a concussion along with hearing and vision loss from the attack. The Sheriff’s office has said that the most vicious part of the beating was not filmed. See the first video.

The eight teen age classmates of Victoria had planned to place the video of the beating on MySpace and YouTube in retaliation for Victoria saying some unpleasant remarks about them on her MySpace page.

The second video shows April Cooper, 14, one of the alleged attackers, and Victoria arguing in a bedroom of the home of Mary Nichols, the grandmother of Mercades Nichols, 17, another one of the alleged attackers. Mercades had invited Victoria to live with her and her parents after Victoria felt uncomfortable living with her father and step-mother.

After the argument in the bedroom escalated, April Cooper allegedly appeared to begin punching Victoria in the face, pushed her onto a bed and continued punching her.

The Sheriff’s office also released several photos of Victoria after the attack, and the photos clearly showed blackened eyes and numerous other marks on Victoria’s face, arms and legs.

Mary Nichols, Mercades Nichols’ grandmother, told police detectives that she was shocked when she saw the video. "I was shocked that she (Mercades) didn't intervene and say, 'Hey, enough is enough," Mary Nichols said.

"You know you hit her once, that's it. Let her go."

"I don't care what anybody does. Nobody deserves to be beat like that," Mary Nichols told investigators.

The grandmother also said she knows that her granddaughter has anger issues, but she has also shown a compassionate side by helping stray dogs and rabbits.

The video that was released by the Sheriff's office had about one minute and 35 seconds in the middle that was almost totally black. We have enhanced that section the best that we could. The Sheriff's office also inserted beeps over the many expletives in the video.

Does Hillary Clinton Expect a Barack Obama Assassination?

Hillary Clinton’s remarks on Friday about Bobby Kennedy’s assassination in 1968 may give an inkling of the real reason why she continues to hang on to her hopes of obtaining the Democratic nomination for president.

The former first lady made her Bobby Kennedy comments during an interview with the Sioux Falls Argus Leader editorial board, and she made them in an attempt to negate recent calls for her to bow out of the race for the Democratic nomination for president.

“My husband didn’t wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June,” Clinton said. “We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don’t understand it,” which referred to the thinking of those who would have her bow out now--at a junction that Hillary considers to be too soon.

After Senator Bobby Kennedy was fatally shot in June of 1968 in the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles by Sirhan Sirhan, a Jordanian immigrant, Hubert Humphrey became the eventual Democratic nominee. Until his assassination, Kennedy had been the front runner in the race and was assumed by most to have the nomination virtually sewn up, much like Barack Obama's situation today.

The question is, does Hillary expect something similar to happen 40 years after the Bobby Kennedy Assassination in June of 2008? Is Hillary remaining in the race because she believes some type of violence will befall Senator Obama, and she wants to be there waiting in the wings so the Democrats will have her to fall back on should Obama not be physically able to continue his presidential campaign?

Senator Obama accepted Secret Service protection much earlier than the other candidates. It is said that he has had several death threats already.

Anyone tuned into the pulse of Americans' thinking knows that there are many folks in the nation that absolutely hate the idea of an African American as President of the the United States. Just because the Ku Klux Klan is no longer lynching black Americans does not mean that the folks who wore those Klan hoods over their heads have changed their thinking.

Does Hillary Clinton expect one of those racists to pave the way for her to obtain the nomination through violence? If she does, she may have blown her opportunity because she is receiving heat about her remarks from all corners of the political spectrum. She has already apologized for her remarks, but that may not be enough. She may have destroyed any remaining chance she has for the nomination by speaking out of turn.

Ted Kennedy's Brain Tumor - Median Survival is 15 Months

Doctors at Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital described Senator Edward (Ted) Kennedy’s brain tumor as a malignant glioma in his left parietal lobe. The bad news is that the median survival period for patients with this aggressive type of brain tumor is only 15 months.

Dr. Keith L. Black, the chairman of the department of neurosurgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, stated that "age is a very strong predictor of prognosis" with this type of tumor, which makes the outlook for Kennedy, who is 76, not as good as that of a younger patient.

Dr. Black also stated that only about 8% of patients with this type of tumor are still alive two years after its diagnosis.

Aggressive gliomas like Kennedy’s spread quite rapidly throughout the brain, cramping space inside the skull by taking up space and squeezing other brain tissue thereby impairing the brain tissue’s function. It can cause speech difficulties, an impairment in performing mathematics, and interference with hand and eye coordination.

However, Dr. Henry Brem, director of neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, who is not involved in Kennedy’s treatment, said he has “patients 20 and 30 years out from diagnosis, and they are functioning normally and doing well.”

Although such an outcome is possible for Kennedy, unfortunately, the statistics are not on Senator Kennedy’s side.

Treatment at this point will usually involve surgery to remove the tumor, followed by chemotherapy and radiation treatment, although there may be other factors that may preclude surgery in Kennedy’s case.

Media Maintain Vigil Outside Ted Kennedy's Hospital - Video

Over 50 reporters, photographers and video cameramen maintained a constant vigil outside Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital on Tuesday awaiting any word on the condition of Senator Edward (Ted) Kennedy who was hospitalized there last Saturday after suffering a seizure.

Doctors have ruled out a stroke but are still conducting tests to determine the exact cause of Kennedy’s medical problems.

Video cameras on tripods are clustered around the hospital’s three entrances in hopes of catching a glimpse of any celebrity visitors of the Democratic Senator from Massachusetts. A total of nine satellite vans with their antennas stretching high into the sky were gathered around the hospital’s main entrance.

Members of the media came from local newspapers and TV stations, from national networks including CNN, and even from Extra, the television entertainment magazine.

The arrival of Victoria Kennedy, the Senator’s wife, caused a flurry of activity among the media, and President George Bush telephoned Senator Kennedy on Monday to wish him well.

Ted Kennedy Remains in Hospital - Stroke Ruled Out - Video

Senator Edward (Ted) Kennedy remains hospitalized after suffering a seizure at his home in Hyannisport, Massachusetts early Saturday morning. His symptoms resembled those suffered by stroke victims, however, doctors have ruled out a stroke.

Only hours after admission to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Kennedy was talking and joking with family members at his bedside. More tests are scheduled to determine the exact cause of his seizure.

The 76-year-old Massachusetts senator’s condition is listed as serious, but doctors have said he is in no imminent danger.

Kennedy’s personal physician, Dr. Larry Ronan, released a statement Saturday night that said, “preliminary tests have determined that he has not suffered a stroke and is not in any imminent danger. He’s resting comfortably and watching the Red Sox game with his family.

The statement continued, “Over the next couple of days, Senator Kennedy will undergo further evaluation to determine the cause of the seizure, and a course of treatment will be determined at that time.”

Kennedy had surgery last October on a carotid artery that was partially blocked and put him at risk for a stroke.

One government official had stated that Kennedy suffered a second seizure on the helicopter flight from Cape Cod to Boston, but that could not be confirmed.

Kennedy, who is the second most senior member of the US Senate, was first elected to the Senate in 1962 to fill the seat left vacant by his brother, John F. Kennedy, who had been elected president.

Ted Kennedy has been re-elected to eight full terms and has been a fixture in the Senate and the Democratic Party ever since.

Ted Kennedy is the only remaining brother from a family of four brothers. His oldest brother, Joseph, was killed in action in World War II.

John, the second oldest brother and president at the time, was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963, while riding with his wife and Texas Governor John Connelly in a presidential motorcade.

His last brother, Bobby, was assassinated on June 5, 1968, at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles while he was seeking the Democratic nomination for president during the 1968 presidential campaign.

Philadelphia Police Beating - Video - Defense Claims Mistaken Identity

We have the video of the Philadelphia police beating three shooting suspects after an auto chase. At least 15 officers were allegedly involved in the beating, and 13 have been removed from duty pending a police investigation of the incident.

Attorneys representing the three defendants claim that the police officers that were involved in the beating concocted a story that the defendants were shooting suspects so they could cover up a police error that the police mistook one of the defendants for another man sought in a cop killing from the previous weekend.

The first video is strictly a video of the beating with no audio to speak of:

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey and Mayor Michael Nutter denied the cover-up allegations and said that officers legitimately pursued the defendants’ car after a triple shooting.

The lawyers claim that their clients, Brian Hall, 23, Dwayne "Lionel" Dyches, 24, and Pete Hopkins, 19, were not involved in any shooting. Instead, they said that police chased their vehicle and beat the trio because they believed that Dyches, who was a passenger in the car, was a man wanted in the fatal shooting of Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski.

Liczbinski was a 12-year member of the force who was shot in the line of duty last week while pursuing three robbery suspects and who was buried today.

If the lawyers’ claim proves to be true, the police officers involved in the beating incident could be facing some very severe charges.

The second video is some of the beating plus a reporter's version of the incident:

Philadelphia Police Beating

The beating, which was filmed by a Fox News TV affiliate helicopter, came after several police cars surrounded and blocked the escape of Hall, Dyches and Hopkins’ vehicle.

Three groups of officers then allegedly dragged the trio from their car and proceeded to punch, kick, and stomp the defendants and also beat one of the defendants with a night stick.

Rev. Al Sharpton suggested the beating was racially motivated and called it "worse than Rodney King," referring to a similar beating of a single black man by Los Angeles police officers in 1991. The acquittal of the police officers involved in that beating motivated rioters in the LA riots of 1992.
