A reportedly “intoxicated” Britney Spears was hospitalized after a nearly three hour standoff with police after her refusal to hand over her children to her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.Police officers were called to Britney’s home around 8 PM, Thursday, and finally handed over her children around 10:50 PM according to police spokesman Officer Jason Lee.
Officer Lee said that Spears was under the influence of an unknown substance, but no injuries were reported.
Britney had been with her children since Noon and was due to return them to Federline at 7 PM. When Kevin’s bodyguards showed up to pick up the children, for some reason she refused to turn them over until police intervened.
Spears was later taken from her home on a gurney by paramedics and transported by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Hospital where she was placed under medical evaluation.Ambulances, fire trucks and a police helicopter were also called to the home. A second ambulance took Britney’s son, Jayden James, to Cedars-Sinai hospital too.
