Eva Mendes - Hot Homewrecker in "The Women"

The comedy/drama The Women was released into theaters on Friday with a blockbuster cast starring Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Jada Pinkett Smith, Debra Messing, Cloris Leachman, Bette Midler, Candice Bergen, Carrie Fisher and several less notable women actors. No significant male roles made it into the film.

The film’s female director is Diane English, who also wrote the screenplay, while the producer is none other than Mick Jagger. The movie is a remake of George Kukor’s The Women from 1939, which naturally was updated to the 21st century, including the role of Alex Fisher, a lesbian. Jada Pinkett Smith nails that character perfectly and steals many a scene with some of her outrageous comments.

Most of the cast’s careers are on the downward side with the exception of Eva Mendes, Jada Pinkett Smith and Debra Messing, however, Meg Ryan and Annette Bening are generally still strong box office draws.

Eva Mendes stars as Crystal Allen, a part that was originally played by Joan Crawford in 1939. Mendes plays her usual bad girl role in this film working at Macy’s behind the perfume counter and is derisively referred to as “the spritzer girl” by the so called “good girls” in the film.

Mendes is having an affair with the husband of Meg Ryan, who plays Mary Haines, a role that was played by Norma Shearer in the 1939 version. Mendes is totally open about trying to steal Ryan’s wealthy husband away from her.

The film is receiving mostly poor reviews from movie critics, and I read one review that especially criticized Eva Mendes in the Crystal Allen role. However, most of the negative reviews compare the 2008 The Women to the 1939 version and also compare the 2008 actors to the 1939 actors.

The 1939 version featured Joan Crawford, Norma Shearer and Rosalind Russell, all of whom were at the peak of their careers back in ‘39. If you watch the film while forgetting that the ‘39 version ever existed, it can be very entertaining.

Candice Bergen, Bette Midler and Cloris Leachman are excellent in their roles, and I, for one, am also an Eva Mendes fan. So I do not believe that she deserved the pan she received from the imdb.com web site.

Eva has been in the news quite a bit this year, first for stint in rehab at Utah’s Cirque Lodge back in January and then for her posterior nude shot for an ad for the animal rights group PETA.

However, her most controversial move was a totally nude TV ad for Calvin Klein during which her nipple is exposed for all to see. The ad was banned by network television, but the ban simply added fuel to the fire, creating a ton of publicity for Calvin Klein and for Mendes.

To his credit, Jay Leno showed the ad on his show, but the nipple exposure was deliberately blurred out.

Mendes has been working her career just right so far in the supporting parts she has played. Her remarkable beauty will undoubtedly help land her a major starring role soon. When it does, look out, because Eva Mendes is becoming a force to be reckoned with in the film industry.

The following is the trailer for "The Women:"

Eva Mendes Naked in Banned Calvin Klein Ad - Full Video

A completely naked Eva Mendes is featured in a Calvin Klein commercial that was planned to be shown on US TV. The ad shows the 34-year-old Eva sprawled on a bed with rumpled sheets strategically covering her crotch and breasts except for a short little snippet where one nipple can be seen for a brief second.

Naturally, the major US networks have declined to show the ad to the US viewers and have banned it from being aired altogether.

Fabien Baron, who is the creative director for the ad campaign, has feigned outrage and claims to be flabbergasted that the commercial has been banned.

Said Baron, “You must be kidding me. This country really needs a new president — this country is so messed up. It’s such a joke and it’s quite upsetting, frankly, how hypocritical this country has become. It’s OK for children to see people killed by guns? Spreading a little love right now would be a good idea.

“She is being a little sexy, but they (the commercial spots) are not provocative. They are really well done. The spot is really beautiful — I really can’t believe this is happening.…I don’t know what else to say.”

If you are familiar with Eva Mendes, a shot of the actress completely covered in a snowmobile suit would be provocative because the woman has a hot, sultry quality about her that just brings out the “T” in testosterone in men.

Of course, the decision makers at Calvin Klein knew the ad would be banned and planned their complete ad campaign with that in mind. Calvin Klein will run an abbreviated version without the “outrageous” nipple exposure, and it will receive more publicity from the banning of the commercial spot than it could ever have purchased.

After all, we are talking about the same USA that was outraged when Janet Jackson briefly flashed her breast at half time during the Super Bowl. The folks at Calvin Klein will be flabbergasted about this banning all the way to the bank.

The following video has a very brief moment of nudity, so proceed at your own discretion.

Eva Mendes - Hot Commodity and Nude to Boot

If you are looking for the video of the Eva Mendes Calvin Klein commercial that has been banned from US televisions by the networks, you have come to the right place. We have the full video, so feel free to check it out.

Eva Mendes is one of Hollywood’s hot commodities these days, and hot is an apt description for the Miami born beauty. The thirty something actress is either 30 or 34 depending on what source you believe (34 is the most often quoted age).

She was voted #4 in AskMen.com’s top 99 women for 2008, having been beaten out by only Kate Beckinsale, Alessandra Ambrosio and Katherine Heigl, who was voted the most desirable woman for 2008.

Eva finished ahead of Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Biel, which is some pretty stiff competition.

Eva can claim an impressive resume of movies, having appeared in Training Day, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Hitch, Ghost Rider, and more recently, We Own the Night.

In We Own the Night she plays Amada Juarez, who is girlfriend to the main character, Bobby Green, a night club manager, played by Joaquin Phoenix.

Even though the Night boasts some heavy acting talent, such as Mark Wahlberg and Robert Duvall, the movie suffers from a rather dismally written script and storyline.

Wahlberg plays Bobby’s brother, a police captain who likes to tell Bobby how to live his life, while Duvall plays Bobby’s equally bossy father, the chief of police.

The only saving graces for the flick are Phoenix’s remarkable acting and Mendes’ remarkable beauty. Unfortunately for Eva, she was provided very little meat in her role as Amada.

Walhberg and Duvall both came off rather poorly in the film, but, in their defense, they were given very poor dialog to work with.

Eva will appear in The Women, a comedy which comes out in the fall that features Meg Ryan, Annette Bening and Debra Messing.

Mendes also plays a jewel thief in The Spirit, which is scheduled to be released on April 19th. The Spirit is an action-adventure-romance film that stars Gabriel Macht as a risen from the dead vigilante crime-fighter. Eva is Macht’s love interest who turns to the dark side in the film.

Eva recently spent a stint in voluntary rehab at Utah’s Cirque Lodge, which is the same facility that Lindsay Lohan used to straighten out her drug habits.

Eva is quoted in People magazine after her rehab session saying: "I'm just taking a break and having a good time. The sun's out again. It's my time. I'm home spending time with my family, going to the gym and actually enjoying taking care of myself.

"This year has been great for me because I've learned how to relax. The last three years have been amazing but kind of crazy. But now I feel grounded. I feel really good."

Grounded sounds quite good compared to the shenanigans that some other celebrity stars have been up to.

Eva also did a rear nude shot for an ad for PETA, and she is a spokesperson-model for Revlon.

Sounds pretty grounded to me.
